Volcanoes, rather than a quiet Sun, may have triggered the Little Ice Age

Summer temperatures in the Northern Hemisphere have been on a slow decline for the last 8,000 years as the orbital precession cycle pushed summer closer to aphelion, the point in Earth’s orbit where it’s farthest from the Sun. The title might be a little misleading – since the new study certainly does NOT suggest that the solar minimum did not play a very important role at a later time..
